Mary Ward Centre
The first thing you will notice about the Mary Ward Centre is the stunning Georgian building, in the peaceful surroundings of Queen Square. An adult education centre with a difference, whatever you want to learn, you’ll find it here. From art to zumba, computing to counselling, there are plenty of short courses to get involved in. With its own roof garden cafe, the Mary Ward Centre is a popular choice for learners all over London. We particularly like the over 60s programme, something that proves you really are never too old to try something new!
The Mary Ward Centre, in the heart of London, is a specialist adult education college offering a wide range of part-time courses in the daytime, evenings and at weekends in subjects that have relevance for work, personal growth or just for fun.
Every year 7,000 Londoners choose to study at the Mary Ward Centre, also known as the friendly place to learn. The courses available are at all levels from introductory to challenging and are taught by experienced tutors. Day, evening and weekend options of varying length help ensure a time convenient for any schedule. From art to Anatomy, Yoga to Excel, we have a course for you.
Facilities
Queens Square houses our Art and Sculpture studios, various classrooms all with modern technology as well as original Georgian features, and a hall for music practice and performances. Here you will also find our very popular vegetarian café and a roof garden, which are open when the Centre is open – weather permitting in the case of the roof garden.
Great Turnstile is located closer to the business sector of Holborn. 10GT has large and airy classrooms and purpose-built basement movement and dance studios – The Robert Rich Studios – named after a former resident of the Mary Ward Settlement.
Equality & Diversity
At the Mary Ward Centre, equality and diversity is central to the creation of a fair organisation where everybody can take part and fulfil their potential free from discrimination, harassment and victimisation. It is about advancing equality of opportunity to all. Diversity is about respecting, valuing and celebrating all people as individuals. It is also about fostering good relations among diverse groups of people. At the Mary Ward Centre, equality and diversity has a long history, dating from our foundation by Mrs Humphrey Ward (Mary Ward), and her idea of “equalisation”.
